Evening Primrose Oil is taken from the seeds of the native North American plant Evening Primrose (Oenothera biennis), who’s yellow flowers open in the evening. The seeds are a strong source of Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) an omega-6 fatty acid.
Traditionally used to treat some health conditions, acne, some skin conditions and PMS. More recently evening primrose has been used to treat osteoporosis and rheumatoid arthritis. GLA has both anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties, although it can cause side effects and may interact with some medications, in particular blood thinners.
